‘Trees for the Future’
Wednesday 28th September 2022, 7pm (arrival from 6.15pm)
Tickets £20 – Tea/coffee and homemade biscuits on arrival

Dr John Grimshaw is currently the Director of the Yorkshire Arboretum near Castle Howard, he sits on the RHS Woody Plant Committee and is the Editor of Trees and Shrubs online.  Following a degree in Botany and a doctorate in African Forest Ecology from Oxford John has gone on to have a diverse career in commercial, private and public horticulture, as well as authorship of several books.

In this evenings lecture, John will be looking at planting trees for the future.  It is often proffered that if we all plant trees then we will solve all of the planets problems, but what trees should we be planting and where.  John will outline the need to plant wisely for a long-term treescape resilient to pests, disease and climate change, while contributing usefully to our ever increasing carbon capture targets.
