Melica ciliata has fast become one of our favourite grasses. From early summer, slender arching plumes of muted brown are borne, then as the season continues to warm up these flowers fluff out and become cream. We have found that Melica ciliata is best positioned on fairly poor soil in full sun, where it will be more free flowering and produce more compact plants. We allow it to seed around as we find the mother plants can be somewhat capricious. H. 40cm.
